What is the difference between court-ordered mediation and private mediation?
In private mediation, parties are voluntarily completing mediation to work together toward an agreement. In court ordered mediation, the judge orders parties to do mediation prior to the case moving forward.
Do you have to go to court to get divorced?
Many couples go through attorneys to get divorced. However, more couples today are starting with mediation to come to an agreement that can be taken to court to finalize the divorce. You are still advised to contact an attorney to review your situation. However mediation can potentially speed up the process significantly and save a lot of time and money.
What do I need in order to do Video Mediation online?
You will need: high-speed internet, a microphone, a camera, and good lighting. You will need to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your session to test your video, microphone, and internet speed. You must be on camera at all times during mediation and be able to be clearly seen and heard. Just like in court, to protect everyone’s confidentiality, no phones are permitted in the room during mediation. Please print out anything you will need during mediation.
How much is Divorce mediation?
Mediation Asap uses a proprietary system to help save you money by giving you the opportunity to complete a lot of the process before mediation begins. The mediation fee is typically split between the 2 parties. You can schedule sessions by the hour ($300/hr), or pre-pay a half-day (3-4 hours $800) or Full-Day (5-6 hours $1300). You can save on the hourly rate by pre-booking a half or full day. You will select the option you need depending on whether the issues are minor (there are only a few and you agree on several of the issues) or more complex.issues that may need more time to resolve.
Can Mediation be completed all in one day?
Yes, depending on the complexity of the issues and the parties willingness to work toward a resolution, mediation can be completed all in one day.
How soon can mediation be scheduled?

You can use our online appointment scheduler to find find a time that one of our expert mediator is available. Once you fill the information out, we will email you a link to enter your availability and then the link can be sent to the other parties (and attorneys if needed) to find the best time for mediation.
How do we get started on Mediation?
The best way is to fill out the Get Started form on our site located under the button ‘Get Started”. Once you fill that out, we will email Both Parties the link to our Calendar so our magical software can find a time that works for both of you. Step 2 is to click on the button on our site and pay for Mediation. We can also split the fees between parties and invoice you separately. Step 3 is to sign the Agreement to Mediation. The final step is complete the Intake Forms that will help speed up Mediation and save you money!
Is it better to do Mediation or go through lawyers and the court?
There are benefits and drawbacks to each method. Mediation can be much faster and cheaper than going to trial through court. The other option is to use Lawyers and go through court. With that option, you may pay a lot more in the short-term but get more (or less) in the divorce settlement. However, if you spend $15-30,000 on attorney fees just to end up with an extra $100 in child support the math may not make sense.
